Hope and Social are delighted to present our new acoustic album “Cotton Wool and Knotted Wood”.
Last year was amazing for us… so many big gigs, so much big noise, so much fun was had. We loved it but by the end of the year we wanted to do something a little different. Something that was smaller and almost purely about music. The result was our Winter Warmer gig in Richmond last December. You can read all about that here. It was a lovely lovely evening and of course involved nearly more messing around than music in the end.
We decided to record the set in all it’s instrument swapping glory. We tracked it totally live in a week with all of us having to operate way out of our comfort zones. The overdubs are tiny (claps, massed vocals, little bits of instruments). This is essentially what we sound like, playing in a room. We also recorded three of the songs (including new massive singalong Knotted Wood” in front of an audience of 40 people at our Crypt Studio as part of our Big Red Button Night.
To celebrate the release we’ve playing 3 acoustic gigs at the end of this month in York, London and Leeds. They are all at lovely venues and will be the last chance to see this beautiful small thing before we burn all our acoustic instruments and start making some incredibly loud rock music again using only instruments that plug directly into the mains and shoot electricity out of the ends.
Hope you enjoy the album and it would be awesome to see you at one of the gigs…
Keep it tiny.
