We all “learned” new instruments for our Christmas show 2011. A new found respect for brass players.
“Let’s do an acoustic show for Christmas!”. Great. We’ll have a quick rehearsal the day before and just take our acoustics and a drum or two. Easy.
Wrong. What we actually ended up doing was re-writing 13 of our songs for a selection of instruments which none of us really play. Harmonium, hand bells, gloc, a variety of percussion instruments including part of an old washing machine. We performed this cacophony at the Georgian Theatre Royal in Richmond and then went on to record the songs for our Cotton Wool and Knotted Wood album. Three of the tracks were recorded live with a group of fans and friends as part of our Big Red Button night (images above courtesy of Barnaby Aldrick
