Le Tour. Le Launch.

We are overjoyed to be able to confirm that Hope and Social are set to appear at the Grand Depart Opening Ceremony. We’ll be showcasing some of the very best of our brand new band members who’ve joined us for the Yorkshire Festival project The Tour Of Infinite Possibility, and performing The Big Wide, the song written by us and commissioned by the good people of Yorkshire Festival.

We’re made up to be hooking up with our old tour buddies Embrace too, and who couldn’t be excited about getting to play out with Girls Alouder Kimberley Walsh and York’s Alistair Griffin at the largest ever TDF Grand Depart launch.

It’s a huge opportunity for us to play to our biggest ever television audience (not that we have any unrealistic expectations that our lives are about to change overnight, and for the millions to start rolling in – for us, it’s always been about growing our community one by one, and I’m sure that’ll remain the case), and one we’re very grateful for. Huge thanks go to Yorkshire Festival, The Arts Council, Welcome To Yorkshire, Yorkshire Water, Asda Foundation, to Martin Green and all the Launch event-team, and last but certainly not least… to the festival that first took the leap to help us form the first “Band Anyone Can Join”, Grassington Festival.

For us, well we get to show people a snippet of what we believe is a world class music as culture project with millions of people around the world. The Tour Of Infinite possibility is about changing the perception that there are creators of music/culture, and consumers. It’s about giving people an amazing experience, about raising expectations of what is possible, of the power of a good idea, a bit of practice, and a whole lot of conviction.

It’s about this…

and turning this…

into this…

So, as we are about to embark upon the first of two weekends of three shows a day, 100 band-members per show, on a rolling stage, electrics powered by bicycle, awesome shows with the good people of Yorkshire, why not come and see, meet and hear the band who’ll be opening the internationally televised Opening Ceremony of Le Tour’s Grand Depart? No reason? Good good [winks].

We’re doing six shows this weekend, with the good people of Otley, Grassington, Hawes, Masham, Ripon and Harrogate joining us as part of The Band Anyone Can Join. Limited free tickets are still available at hopeandsocial.co.uk/tip/tickets. Come along, have fun, and cheer along the good people of Yorkshire!!!
