How we roll
Awesome weekend so far! Galtres Festival was lovely as ever. Smiling faces all round. Best sounding stage of the festival season to date. We love Galtres! Amazing people. Great set-up.
Highlights include “Olympic Jousting”, the lovely and ace “Hand Made Hands“, the scratch band who closed the night at the Firkin stage, the fantastic food – all round, and The Buzzcocks using our bass amp!
Because of the bass-amp hire, our van stayed backstage until the end of the night… So we slept in the van. Apart from Ed who slept under the stage.
We also like getting towed out.
We left Galtres (early bird tickets on sale from September this year folks) at 2, to begin our nine hour trek to Greenbelt for three Sunday shows.
It’s been an interesting 20 hours or so.
Four hours into our journey we began to get warnings from Greenbelt attendees and friends that the rain was turning to rivers in Cheltenham, and that we may need to fit a hull to the van. Twenty minutes from arrival… We were told that no more camping was being accepted on site.
We booked two rooms, and headed in to GB to catch some music, beer and then head back (with a designated driver of course).
The van wouldn’t start. Ninja.
So last night – we did indeed stay in a travelodge but alas didn’t leave the festival til 2 as the van battery flattened itself, we needed the RAC.
Didn’t take too long for us to get back up and running so we then drove to the wrong hotel where Des reversed into a car and ripped it’s bumper off (note left, we’re decent peeps and that).
We finally got to the right hotel at 3 where they’d only reserved us one family room and one single. The van alarm then decided to get a piece of the action and jammed on. Craig cut it out with a penknife and and stuffed it in the back of the van where it’s probably still going off right now. Pretty standard.
We have laughed a-lot!
See you at Greenbelt for three sets shortly happy campers!
;)
