Apologies for the radio silence these past couple of weeks, but oh me my, what fun we have planned for our 2015 Christmas Doooo, “The Fairytale of New Yorkshire“… AND for that matter, what fun we’re having planning it! This is not gonna be some standard, badly thought through, end of year/Chrimbo bash with some crap ABBA cover act, a rubbish turkey roast and small glasses of overpriced house red available for the hordes. This is The Fairytale of New Yorkshire, bringing you the best of New York, and Yorkshire in one festive event/gig-wrapped-up-like-a-present package.

(It’s still pretty badly thought through tbh but don’t tell anyone… Let us keep our intense veneer of professionalism!)

Venue: Canal Mills

Our venue is the delightful Canal Mills. They’ve just come out of a most wonderful brewers market, and assure us that their bar will be even more wonderfully stocked with the most awesome range of craft beers and more from local favourites to exotic wonders. And it’s going to look luuuuurvely in there.

Throughout the evening, you will have the chance to take part in the top 5 things to do in NYC at Christmas, right here in God’s Own County. We don’t want to reveal all at this stage, but if you want to suggest, or pontificate, well, that’s what the comment section below is for innit. [winks]

Obvs… we’re playing. So there’s that, but better still…. > Have you ever seen New York Brass Band? Well, if not… you’re gonna. And they’ll make your heart jump with their awesomeness and general shenanigans. We spent a week with them up at Durham BRASS Festival over the summer, and so ace was it that we’re bringing this great Yorkshire collaboration home to Leeds. Say howdy to ’em on twitter.

We’re going to be asking things of you

We’ll post about this separately, but over the next couple of weeks, we hope some of you will be up for helping us out with a few bits and bats. Think of all things Christmas, all things Yorkshire, all things New York, and you’ll be starting to get the idea. NYC road signs, got a giant Christmas tree? Maybe you’ve got a enough Mecano to build life-size Brooklyn Bridge? Or maybe you can simply bring us all a Reuben for lunch… like NOW, that’d be ace!

What’s Next?

Tickets are selling great for this little beauty but this is definitely an event where the more tickets we sell the more Christmas madness we can unleash! If you’re considering buying tickets or exhorting your friends to come it would be awesome if you could do so as soon as possible so we know exactly how many fire breathing dancing reindeer we can afford to hire!
