Crypt Covers 6: Wilful Missing

Crypt Covers Logo

6 out of 10! Welcome to the 6th of our Crypt Covers this year. Sorry we’ve been away a little while. We’ve been squirrelled away making the fourth Hope and Social album. So, as of tomorrow (31st Oct 2012) we’re back making a cover of your choice with another band of awesomeness, and who better to be making merriment and song with than the amazing and awesome Wilful Missing.

UPDATE – VIDEO LIVE NOW!

END UPDATE

1st time here? Have looksie at the Crypt Covers we’ve done so far. Pick a favourite, and pitch us your suggestions for the H&S/WM mashup.

How do I get involved….

… I hear you say. Well, as it’s been a while, let’s have a quick run through. We want your suggestions for the cover version you most want Wilful Missing and Hope and Social to cover tomorrow. Comment on this blog, or tweet your suggestions using the #cryptcovers hashtag.

Around 10AM, and over the now infamous Crypt Covers breakfast (from the sophisticated feta and acacia honey on French stick with a side of granola to the sugary Krispy Creme double-dozen), we’ll whittle those down to a workable number, then choose one song that we’ll cover and release, with a video, courtesy of the amazing Shot By Sodium tomorrow. Schimples.

You’ve got to be in it to win it, so whatever song you’re burning for us to cover, please comment below, or tweet us your suggestions.

What’s to know about Wilful Missing….

Wilful Missing have had four songs featured in the BBC school drama Waterloo Road.

They make beautiful videos… by their very own fair hands.

Wilful Missing – Cry For The City from Wilful Missing on Vimeo.

Wilful Missing’s first full album, Molehills out of Mountains, was released in December 2011, and gained support from the likes of Steve Lamacq and Tom Robinson. Cry For The City (above) is taken from the awesome Molehills Out Of Mountains album, available from WM’s bandcamp page, and you can press play on the whole album just below… Here >>

The five members of Wilful Missing are split between thinking “Twitter doesn’t exist” and “if it’s not on Twitter, it doesn’t exist”. They are on twitter here.

Some of you may recognise Wilfiul Missing’s Sam Lawrence and Albert Freeman from our choir recording day for the forthcoming H&S album. Sam Lawrence’s voice is so deep he has been forced to live on a boat, due to causing subsidence in every house he has lived in.

You may have seen Sam playing with Rich in Gary’s band, and you can find more about Wilful Missing here. Regardless, tomorrow’s set to be acres of fun in a crypt the size of half a football pitch. Go figure [or… insert your own pithy popular-culture catchphrase here]!

Only one fifth of Wilful Missing have been arrested.

Live Blog…

The Crypt Covers 6 live blog will appear below shortly (and by magic, boom, its there!). This neet widget thing is where we can have a natter as we’re making the cover, and as Ben says, it “makes a lovely rhythmical “clikerty clack” noise when you join in” so it must be great. It’ll also pull in all tweets with #cryptcovers tag, so anything you say on twitter is included. ;)

[…] If you have in mind a song you would like us to cover tomorrow, you have two ways to suggest it.  Either get yourself over to Twitter and post a tweet using the #cryptcovers hashtag, or pop over to the Hop & Social website and leave a comment on their page for our Crypt Cover. […]

Yul Bryner Was A Skinhead – The Toy Dolls because Sam L would probably love to do an obscure punk track and Woman by the Anti Nowhere League is a bit filthy (but Sam sings it so well ….)
